Please Join us Wednesdays at 6:30 for our
2010 Soup Supper and Lenten Series.

The special “Soup Supper” series for Lent this year will focus on what we, as people of faith, are called to do for others, and the variety of service possibilities that exist all around us, even in our own backyard. The church will be hosting representatives from several service organizations in our region, who will come and describe their work, and provide opportunities to become involved in their efforts, if their work fits your calling:

February 24 Sertoma Centre, Inc.
Sertoma Centre, Inc., with two locations in Alsip, Illinois, and nine residential homes throughout the south and southwest suburbs, is a nationally accredited, not-for-profit agency that provides services to more than 650 individuals with developmental, physical and emotional disabilities, and/or mental illness.

March 3 Oak Lawn Environmental Commission/

March 10 Crisis Center for South Suburbia
Founded in 1978, the Crisis Center for South Suburbia is a non-profit community organization that provides emergency shelter and other essential services for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence. The crisis Center works to provide comprehensive social services to all victims of domestic violence that both support the victim and address the societal issues that allow domestic violence to continue. Several Pilgrim Faith members have been active volunteers with the Crisis Center over the years.

March 17 Greater Chicago Food Depository/Pilgrim
Food Pantry
The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, is a nonprofit food distribution and training center providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. The Food Depository distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 600 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to 500,000 adults and children in Cook County every year. Last year, the Food Depository distributed 58 million pounds of nonperishable food and fresh produce, dairy products and meat, the equivalent of 119,000 meals every day.
As a part of the program, our own Russ Pluhar will say a few words about the work of the Pilgrim Faith Food Pantry.

March 24 PLOWS Council on Aging
