This location is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To protect the health of BEDS Plus guests, they are currently being housed in motels and apartments in the southwest suburbs with meals delivered daily. While Pilgrim Faith is not currently housing BEDS Plus guests, we have continued to provide meals for them every Thursday throughout the summer. If you would like to join one of our food teams in the fall, please contact our Pilgrim Faith Site Manager, Charles Martin, to learn how you can help.

If you or someone you know is homeless and needs help, call BEDS Plus at 708-354-0858 or email for information about shelters and services. The daytime BEDS Plus support center is located at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Heaney Hall, 11005 S. 76th Avenue in Worth (just east of Southwest Highway on 111th Street).

Pilgrim Faith’s Site Manager: Charles Martin

On Thursday evenings from October 1 through April 30, Pilgrim Faith provides overnight shelter for the homeless persons in our area. Doors open at 6:30 pm with BEDS guests entering through the glass door on the southeast corner of the building. Guests are provided with a mattress, clean linens, a warm dinner, a hot breakfast and a sack lunch to take with them the next day when they leave the building at 7:00 am. During the evening, BEDS Plus caseworkers help guests access additional services that will help them get back on their feet. Our shelter is part of an extensive network of shelters and other programs run by BEDS Plus. Shelter is provided during the cold months with the goal of helping people move from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

Volunteer Your Time

It takes an army of volunteers and donations to keep this shelter open. We have been fortunate to be able to find good people who are willing to give of their time so that others can sleep safely. Thursday evening volunteers work 4 to 5-hour shifts registering guests, staffing the BEDS closet which provides socks and other necessities to guests, and providing general supervision of guests throughout the night. Most volunteers work one shift a month. Volunteers must be 18 or over. Volunteers younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult who will take personal responsibility for their safety.

  • First Shift: 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (register guests, work in BEDS closet, supervise & assist guests)
  • Second Shift: 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. (supervise sleeping areas, make lunches)
  • Third Shift: 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. (supervise sleeping areas, pick up mattresses, etc. as guests wake up and prepare to leave)
  • Fourth Shift: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. (serve breakfast, clean up kitchen area)

We also have dedicated food teams from First United Methodist Church, St. Linus Catholic Church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and Pilgrim Faith Church who provide a delicious hot meal for BEDS Plus guests each Thursday evening. In addition, we have a dedicated group of men from St. Barnabus Catholic Church who come in every Friday morning at 6:30 to put away mattresses and clean up so that the church space is clean by 7:30 am.

The Pilgrim Faith BEDS Plus shelter is always looking for volunteers on all shifts. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the site manager at or contact the church office at 708-422-4200 or

Service Hour Opportunity for High School Students

We have used various student groups from local high schools to put out mattresses, set up tables and chairs and distribute bedding each Thursday from 5:30-6:15 pm before our BEDS guests arrive. The high school volunteers are supervised by adult volunteers from Pilgrim Faith. If you are a sponsor of a high school service group and would like to get your group involved in volunteering at our shelter, please contact site manager, Charles Martin at .
